Among the Slow Fish exhibitors in Genoa, in the kitchens of restaurants across Liguria, and in numerous online meetings, the Slow Fish network presents its stories and experiences.

The experiences of women and men who take care of the sea and represent a fishing model that looks to the future, working in harmony with nature to safeguard fish species and support their communities.

Slow Fish Communities

Fishers like herders. The Slow Fish communities embody this idea perfectly: they’re the true custodians of their environments; they’re the people who know the marine world best of all, who love and understand their local ecology, who oppose those forms of marine resource exploitation that compromise biodiversity, local economies and community well-being.

Slow Food Presidia

A place of honor will be reserved for the Slow Food Presidia. In Italy there are 18 Presidia safeguarding fishing method, marine biodiversity and traditional processing techniques. Across the world there are another 13, for a total of 31 Slow Food Presidia from the Caribbean Sea to the coasts of Brittany, Denmark and Tunisia. Among them there are local heroes from Liguria, like the Camoglia Tonnarella and Noli Gulf Artisanal Fishers.

Osterias and restaurants

Cooks have been among the sections of the economy hardest-hit by the pandemic. With Slow Fish we want to give you the chance to return to their tables in safety and serenity. With Osterias of the Slow Food guide, cooks of the Slow Food Alliance, Michelin-starred chefs and more to explore, check out the Slow Fish Menu, book your place and enjoy some ethical conviviality!
